new virus found in the wild (?)

I think I found a new virus on a machine. It took me a few hours to clean it manually, but I managed to kill it. I kept a copy on a thumb drive though.

It disables anti-malware programs, you can neither run nor install any removal tools.
It automatically closes browser windows if you go to any AV or anti-malware sites.
If you somehow manage to delete the one DLL in the %systemroot%/system32 directory it creates an executable in the root directory that runs the next time you reboot.
If you delete the executable in the root and the DLL, it creates another executable with another name and repeats.
It will automatically copy the executable and an autorun.inf file on any thumb drive inserted.

I also intentionally infected two test machines with it, one running Sophos and Malwarebytes, the other with Eset Nod32 and AdAware, none of these apps detected it.

What should I do with it?
Any way to make money off this discovery?

New Laptops

I regularly buy laptops for work, only because I can't build them like I can with desktops. I just got a new Vaio for this one lady and I am setting it up now.

They always come with all sorts of extra garbage that slows them down terribly. It takes me a few hours to set one up, and half of that is removing the excess crap they install at the factory. This garbage they install slows the computer down to a crawl. It invariably speeds up greatly when I remove it.

Why would they intentionally slow down their own product with crap? I don't get it, wouldn't they want it to run as fast as possible out of the box?

More like PayEnemy

Ever since eBay took over Paypal they have been an automated pain iin the ass akin to the phone company.

I spent nearly a week getting a minor problem cleared up on my work paypal account I set up to buy stuff from sites that only take paypal.

Please say 'continue' to continue this complaint or 'stop' to end it.

...

I am sorry I didn't get that, please try again

...ad nauseum.

There are carpals in my tunnel

I just got diagnosed as having carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists.

Not sure what to think of this, so far all the want to do is have me do funky exercises, sleep with braces and do occupational therapy. I told them I don't want to have surgery on my wrist because it would knock me outta commision for a long time and I can't afford that now.

The surgery consists of slicing and dicing a tendon, which I am afraid would make my hands weak. That is the one symptom I don't have. My fingers and hands are pretty strong now, just painful to do stuff.

I have heard a lot of people have had the surgery successfully but I find it odd that I never met anyone that has had it.

Writer's Block: Meaningful Words

What is your favorite quote? And why?
I like a number of Mark Twain quotes, but this one is my favorite.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. - Mark Twain

I like it because it reveals a basic truth in society. In other less poetic words it means that it is better to keep your mouth shut especially when you are not absolutely certain you know what you are talking about, a lesson many people cannot seem to learn.

Learning to write

I have wanted to write a book or 3 for a while. In fact that is half the reason I joined LJ, so that I would have a place to write stuff that was available anywhere.

I have a ton of ideas but I can't seem to sort them out enough to put them down in text. I have been thinking about taking a creative writing class at the local community college. Anyone know if those classes worth the time and money?

Cleaning house

I have been cleaning everything else lately, figured I better clean my journal too.

If I start Spring cleaning early, will Spring start early or is that just wishful thinking?
